Contractor Storm Windows

Vinylume offers the Series 200 Storm Windows for some of your customer's needs. These windows are not meant to replace the primary windows in their homes, but to augment them. Storm windows are intended to work with the primary windows in the home. There are two (2) types of Storm Windows we make: Outside Storms and Inside Storms.

Outside Storms: These windows are single glazed (one pane of glass). They have thermally welded frames with integral nailing fins and mechanically fastened sash. The windows are measured and sized by you, the contractor, so that they can be fastened over the primary window's opening, using the nailing fin. To fit the various types of primary windows, Vinylume offers matching Storm Windows.

Double Hung Storms. These have the same general shape as the customer's primary double hungs. The difference is that Double Hung Storms have take out type sashes, rather than the tilt-in sashes the primary windows have.

Two (2) and Three (3) Section Sliders: These windows are similar to the two (2) and three (3) section primary windows, but they are single glazed and have take out sashes.

Single Lite (Standard & Reverse) Windows: This is just another name for our picture window. The "Standard" means the sash is removable from the inside and the "Reverse" means the sash is removed from the outside. Single Lite Reverse Windows are usually mounted over primary Picture Windows; the sash can be removed from the outside to clean it and wash the outside surface of the Picture Window.

Basement and Casement Windows: These windows are designed to go over the Basement and Casement windows. They are also single glazed.

Inside Storm Windows: Unlike the Outside Storm Windows listed above, you have to assemble these windows on the job site. You assemble the Inside Storm Windows inside the customer's home. There are the One Lite, similar to the Picture Window; the 2 and 3 Lite Sliders and the Double Hung.

As an option, your customer can ask you to supply the Double Hung and 2 Section Slider Storms with Low-E glass. Although they are not the equal of a primary, insulated glass window with Low-E and Argon gas, such Storm Windows with Low-E do provide a measure of energy saving.

Colors and finishes available: White is standard; optional at slight extra cost is Beige and Brown. Wood Grain finishes are not available on the Storm Window Line.
