Home Owner Slider Windows

The Slider window is the opposite of the Double Hung window. Sliders are usually wider than they are higher and as the name indicates, the sashes slide from side to side. A Slider window may have two (2) or three (3) sashes; sometimes sliders may also be referred to as two (2) or three (3) "section" sliders. Some series of sliders do more than merely slide from one side to another.

Two (2) Section Sliders: These slider windows can be found in the Series 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000. Except for the Series 2000 sliders, both sashes slide and be made accessible for cleaning purposes. On the Series 2000 sliders, only the one (1) moving sash can be made accessible for cleaning.

Three (3) Section Sliders: All four (4) series of windows listed above offer the three (3) section slider. However, the Series 2000 three (3) section slider's two (2) end sashes slide. The middle sash is immobile.

All that being said, we will now describe the different series of sliders.

Series 1000: Mechanically joined, chemically welded frames and sashes. Available as either a two (2) or three (3) section slider. The three (3) section sliders offer you a choice of either being proportional (the center sash section is equal to the width of both end sashes) or they can be "Equal-lights" ( all three [3] sashes are the same height and width). This is our mechanical-mechanical replacement window. We can add a nailing fin with J-channel to it for your contractor if you are going to build a new home.

Accessibility for cleaning: Because slider windows slide, there are no spiral balances needed for sliders. For this series of windows, standard removal of the sashes for cleaning is by the lift-out method. Both movable sashes have trip latches at the tops of the sashes; pulling the latches down allows the upper part of the sash to move in toward you. Then you are able to lift it out of the window frame. Optional: The Series 1000's low price Tilt-N-Latch allows you to unlatch the sash, then easily swing it in for convenient cleaning. Your contractor can provide this affordable option.

Colors and finishes available: Standard is White; optional colors at low extra cost are Beige, Brown, Cream White and Sand Tone. Available finishes at affordable prices are Light Oak Wood Grain on White; Light Oak Wood Grain on Beige and Dark Oak Wood Grain on White.

Energy Star: When the Series 1000 window is ordered with the Low-E and Argon gas option, it becomes an Energy Star qualified window. You can get this affordable option on the Series 1000 sliders. In these high cost of energy times, it is worth considering.

Series 2000: The frames are thermally welded while the sashes are chemically welded and mechanically fastened. This series of sliders is available as either two (2) or three (3) section windows. The two (2) section slider has only one (1) sliding sash. The three (3) section slider has only two (2) sliding sashes, those being the ones at either end of the window. The frame hs an integrally extruded nailing fin for use in new construction windows, or the window can be supplied without the nailing fin for replacement window work.

Accessibility for cleaning: Both the two (2) and three (3) section sliders have "lift-out" moving sashes. These sashes come out for easy cleaning and equally easy re-insertion into the frame.

Colors and finishes available: Standard is White; optional at slight extra cost is Beige and Brown. We do not offer wood grain finishes on this series of window. Series 3000: This is a thermally welded frame and thermally welded sash window. Like the Series 1000 window, the Series 3000 sliders are offered as two (2) and three (3) section sliders. Both the two (2) section and three (3) section sliders are supplied with the Tilt-N-Slide mechanism. This series of window is our welded-welded replacement window.

Accessibility for cleaning: The Tilt-N-Slide mechanism is really a "Turn-and-Slide" mechanism. By sliding either or both sashes slightly open, opening two simple latches on the end of the sash, you can swing the sashes inward, the way some French windows open. You can easily and safely wash your windows from the inside of your home. Now, that's convenience.

Colors and finishes available: White is standard. Optional at slight extra cost is Beige and Brown. We do not offer any wood grain finishes in the Series 3000 window.

Series 4000: This is the new construction thermally welded frame with integrally extruded nailing fin and J-channel and with thermally welded sashes. If you are building a new home and want a welded-welded window for every opening, this is the series for you and your contractor. We supply the slider for this series in both two (2) and three (3) section slider versions, equipped with the Tilt-N-Slide mechanism.
