Home Owner Awning Windows
Vinylume's Awning window is an excellent window which complements the Casement window. Where Casements are usually higher than they are wide, Awnings, on the other hand are usually wider than they are high. We supply them to contractors with thermally welded frames and thermally welded sashes. Where the Casements are hinged at the side, to swing out in a vertical plane, the Awning is hinged across its top. This enables the window to swing up and out with the sash's bottom going out first, ahead of the rest of the sash. What's nice about this feature is that a sudden rain shower doesn't let any water in through the open window. Like the Casement, our Awning window has a 1" overall insulated glass unit. You can get this window with either the crank mechanism or the push rod mechanism. The push rod mechanism is considered to be a faster way to open (and close) the Awning window; however, the crank mechanism is also popular. Talk with your contractor about the advantages of both; he'll help you decide which suits you best.
Combinations available: Your contractor is able to mull (join) these windows on the job-site or obtain them mulled into one frame from our factory, in varying combinations. One common combination, fill a large opening, is stacking one (1) or two (2) non-venting (non-opening) awnings over a venting (opening) awning.
Colors and finishes available: Standard color is White; optional at slight extra cost is our Beige, Brown, Cream White and Sand Tone. Finishes available are Light Oak Wood Grain on White; Light Oak Wood Grain on Beige and Dark Oak Wood Grain on White, all at affordable additional cost.
